Annex Theatre
Season 38 Posters
As my time at Annex Theatre began to ramp up, I found opportunity to design posters for a handful of shows during 2025’s Season 38. Testing and expanding my design skillset to invoke the themes and characters of the shows, the work I did would go on to embolden me to take on designing the stylized neon posters for all of Season 39.
The Game Show
A dark and enigmatic game show host leads a wild and truly confounding game of Go Fish in this bombastic metaphor for the systems we all find ourselves complicit to everyday. I aimed to portray the subtle menace of the host and their puppet master like abilities and storyline and how they and the game show itself are one in the same.
Paradise Untapped
A piece that brought together the literary powers of Frankestein’s Mary Shelly and Paradise Lost’s John Milton’s daughter, whose hands helped craft the works of her father as he dictated to her in his waning eyesight. These two women share a connection through history that is unique and in this poster I wanted to spotlight that through shared visual motif’s in both works, of lights in the sky and the rocky cliffs, specifically the wood engraving artwork of Gustave Doré and the early black and white Frankenstein films with final confrontations on rocky cliffs in front of matte paintings of storm clouds.
Blue to Blue
A walk through the neighborhood of grief in a world that turns upside down and inside out and a coffin is crafted around the poetry of Dickens, this methodical piece is meant to be a meditation that hypnotizes you into its world as characters grapple with grief and what death means at different phases in life. I wanted this poster to bring forward the confusion as the viewer falls into it, just as the do when watching the show.
